As per the directions of K.T. Rama Rao, Minister for MA&UD for the overall development of the libraries in GHMC limits Dr.B.Janardhan Reddy, Commissioner, GHMC along with Ayachitham Sridhar, Chairman, State Grandalaya Samstha, M. Harikrishna, Director Cultural Department, Prashanthi, Joint Collector, Hyderabad District visited and inspected some of the libraries today.
The following are the libraries visited by the team are Secunderabad Ghans Mandi, LIC Colony at Indira Park, Bakaram, Vijayanagar Colony, City Central Library at Afzalgunj.
K.v. Ramana Chary, Advisor to the Government has also participated in the visit and given certain directions and proposals for the overall development of the libraries. The team of the officials have had a meeting after the inspection of the libraries and decided to take up four main libraries for immediate development in a phased and time bound manner and further to take up digitalize libraries with modern facilities for which the officials have discussed and proposed that a separate committee be constituted for the purpose to initiate necessary action in this regard.
Dr.B.Janardhan Reddy, Commissioner, GHMC said that in the GHMC has already planned to take up 2 E-Libraries for each circle and the works are in process. The Commissioner while interacting with the officials said that 4 major libraries will be taken up in first phase Ms. Prashanthi, Joint Collector requested the Engineering and Library officials to send the proposals for overall development of the libraries so as to place the proposals to the committee to take up further action in this regard.
K.V.Ramana chary, Advisor to the Government said that the library cess which is pending for payment since long time be released on priority and there is very need for the development of the libraries in the twin cities for the convenience of the citizens, he added.
Zonal Commissioners, Ms. Harichandana, shankaraiah, Srinivas Reddy. Professor Laxman Rao, Professor Sudarshan Rao, Devi Prasad, Sangisetti Srinivas, Nandini Sidda Reddy and other senior officials have attended the meeting.
