Dry and wet segregation of garbage to be implemented in Whole Country

As a part of World Environment Day

The Municipal Administration Department, Government of India has taken up a decision to implement the dry and wet segregation of garbage waste from households in all the Urban Local Bodies in the Country as a part of World Environment Day which is scheduled to be held on 5th June. The Swachh Bharath Mission has issued the instructions to all the Urban Local Bodies to implement the strictly the segregation.

As you aware that the GHMC has already taken up an innovative programme of segregation through 2000 Swachh autos and duly distributing 44 lakhs of dust bins to the households for segregation purpose. To create awareness about the segregation the GHMC has utilized the services of various organizations, NGOS, SHGs, for the said purpose. The GHMC has also conducted such awareness campaigns on segregation and derived very good results.

The GHMC has removed around 1116 open garbage points duly arranging rangolis to curb garbage menace on the open points. Basing on the initiative taken up by the GHMC the Swachh Bharath Mission has taken a decision to take up the same in all Urban Local Bodies in the Country.
